We collect only what we need to make and ship your order and to answer your messages. We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use advertising trackers.

What we collect

  • When you order: your name, email address, phone number, shipping address and the design you created (with any gift note), including any name, logo or picture you added to it.
  • Names, logos and pictures you add: kept in your design on your device until you order or save it. Designs with your own name or logo are never shown in the community.
  • Payment details: handled entirely by Stripe. We receive confirmation that you paid, but never your full card number.
  • If you create an account: your email address and the designs you save. Saved designs are private to you until you choose to share one with the community. A shared design, and the display name you pick to show with it, can be seen by anyone. The same goes for a line you make from your designs. Stop sharing at any time from My designs. If you save a design and don’t order it, we may email you once about it a couple of days later, at most one such email a week.
  • When you send a photo of what you sewed: the photo and the name you give. One of us looks at it first; once approved, it shows on our community page with your name and the drawing of your outfit. Take it down any time from your order page. We remove a photo’s location data on your device before it’s sent.
  • When you ask to hear about the app: your email address, used for one email when the iPhone app is in the App Store.
  • When you ask to hear when orders open: your email address, used for one email when you can order.
  • When you ask for a free pattern: your email address and the pattern and doll size you picked, used to email you its download link, and once more when a new free pattern comes out.
  • Each of those emails has an unsubscribe link. Once you use it, we send you no more of them; emails about an order you place still come.
  • When you contact us: your name, email address, order number if you give one, and your message.
  • When you visit: which pages you view, the site that sent you here (such as Google or Pinterest, without the search you typed), your device type and your country. We don’t store your internet address: visits are grouped by a scrambled code made from it. Your browser keeps a random code for the current visit (it expires after 30 minutes away) and a count of how many times it has visited, so we can tell new visitors from returning ones. In the designer we also count which steps you reach and which options you use (for example which pieces, prints and colors you pick), tied to that same visit code and never to your name or email, so we can see what works and what is hard to use; nothing you type is counted. We count this ourselves; no other company sees it, and visit records are deleted after 13 months.

How we use it

  • To print and ship your panel, and to email you about your order.
  • To answer your questions and fix problems with an order.
  • To keep records we are required to keep, such as sales records.
  • To see which pages help people and how they find us, so we can make the site better.

Who we share it with

Only the companies that help us run DollThreads, and only what each one needs:

  • Stripe, to take payments.
  • Our print partners, Spoonflower and Gooten. The one that makes your panel receives your design, name, phone number and shipping address to print and mail it.
  • Supabase and Vercel, which host our database and website.
  • Apple, only if you tap “Tell me when it ships” in our iPhone app: its push notification service receives your phone’s notification address and the notification’s words (your order number) to show it on your phone.
  • Resend, which delivers our emails (order confirmations, free patterns and replies), and Google Workspace, where our inbox lives.
  • Google’s Gemini, only when you tap “See it on a doll” (or, in our iPhone app, “Try it on your own doll”): it receives a picture of that outfit (with any name or logo on it), and your photo of your doll if you add one, to make the picture. A picture on our doll is saved so the same outfit loads straight away next time. Your own photo, and the picture made from it, are never saved.
  • Google’s Gemini also runs our team’s AI assistant, which helps us look up orders and messages and draft replies. When one of us asks it about your order or message, it reads the details we hold (your name, email, order and message) to answer. Under Google’s paid terms, it doesn’t train its AI on what we send.

Cookies

We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies. Our visit counter keeps its visit code and count in your browser’s storage, not a cookie, and nothing else reads them. Clearing your browser’s site data removes them. Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout page to keep payments secure.

Children

DollThreads is meant to be used by adults, or by kids together with a parent. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child has sent us their information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices

You can delete saved designs, or your whole account, yourself on your My designs page (in the iPhone app, under the designer). You can also ask us to show you, correct or delete the information we hold about you by contacting us. We keep order records where the law requires it, for taxes and refunds.
